The original MT irons were iconic, brand-defining irons that put MacGregor on the map, and they were simply beautiful.
We started work on this project with one of those beauties in our hands. We were clear that we wanted to respect and honor the aesthetics and clean lines of the original, but pack it with modern technology so it lives up to the demands of the modern golfer. There's no gimmicks - just a quality club that we think looks every part as good as the original.
This model is the 'Pro' model. It has a beautifully thin and clean top line, almost blade-esque to look at. And while the head as a whole is closer to a blade than the OS model, this hot muscleback still packs a lot more forgiveness than the club's ancestors.
These sets are hand-built to order in our Las Vegas assembly facility. Please allow 2-3 working days after placing your order before we ship them. If you choose a premium shipping service such as 2 Day or Overnight, your order will ship on the appropriate service after these 2-3 days have passed.
EXPLOSIVE FACE
The face of the club is a thin 2mm MS300 face with a high tensile strength of 295kpsi - it has a very high COR which gives you that explosive impact for penetrating shots, which is further enhanced with the power slot that sits behind.
FOAM FILLED HEAD
The head is filled with a proprietary polymer which gives that buttery soft feel you know and love, while also improving accoustics for a satisfying sound.
INTERNAL WEIGHTING SYSTEM
We also utilized an internal co-forged tungsten weighting system towards the toe of the club, which moves the center of gravity lower and deeper in the club while also increasing MOI so off-center strikes still fly.
COMPONENTS
These clubs will be fit with KBS Tour steel shafts, or UST Recoil 660 (in senior and regular) and 680 (in stiff).

MT86 Pro Golf Irons
Took them out yesterday and played with them in a golf tournament. Awesome! I let a friend try them and he ordered a set. These are really decent irons. Center hits feel great but, even offset hits ended up being good. Very satisfied with them. Thanks.

MT-86 Irons
This is a follow-up to my previous review. I've now played about 45 rounds with these and my previous comments still stand. These are excellent irons. One additional comment regarding performance is there is a penalty for hitting low on the face. They are reasonably forgiving elsewhere on off center contact. I continue to love the looks. Most people that see them assume they are forged blades and after 45 rounds they have all of the dings of a forged blade from getting hit when clubs are "placed" back in the bag. I actually like this dinged up look. It reminds me of years gone by when I last played blades. I very much recommend giving these a try.

MT-86 Pro Irons
I’m 65 and have been a 5 plus or minus 2 handicap for many years. My previous recent irons were Ping I210’s and Titleist T300’s. I switched from the I210’s to the T300’s to get a little more forgiveness and more distance. I loved my I210’s for their looks and reliability. Even though the T300’s delivered more forgiveness and distance I did not like the turf interaction with was driven by the extended length of the head. When I read the articles about the MT86 irons and who designed them I became interested; and when MacGregor came out with the option to try a demo I jumped in. I ended up buying the Pro irons to achieve the turf interaction I wanted. I chose the graphite stiff (680) shafts; my first time with graphite iron shafts. These irons do exactly what I was looking for. The feel is outstanding; probably a combination of the head design and graphite shafts. The distance is predictable and stronger than my I210’s. The turf interaction is great. As I expected with these being hollow body, they are also forgiving. I can’t see a need for the OS model.

MacGregor MT-86 OS
Ordered the Pro but got the OS and glad I did since they work fine for me and are similar to my Titleist T200's and Mizuno 921 forged. Build lie was off on all clubs but I had the lie correct to standard by a friend. I have played them. I like the feel and I was able to work the ball. I am 75 and a 10 index. I would rate them a 5 based on play and making the lie correction.
